  1. How Many Times
  2.  
  3. How many times have you told me
  4. That I'm not doing what I ought to be?
  5. How many times did you shake your head?
  6. Or laugh at me for something that I said?
  7. How many times have I held in tears,
  8. As you give voice once again to my fears?
  9. How many times have I played off pain
  10. When you tell me I'm useless once again?
  11. How many times have I told you my dreams (a dream)
  12. Only to have you tell me they're (it's) not as they (it) seem(s)?
  13. How many times have I shown you my hope,
  14. To have you tell me it's not going to happen; nope?
  15. How many times have you left me alone?
  16. With no one to hold as pain aches to the bone.
  17. How many times has it been me to blame,
  18. With me to feel the guilt burn like a flame?
  19. How many times have I been scared to blame you,
  20. Even if things might be part your fault too?
  21. How many times have I known the right thing to do,
  22. But been scared that you'd think I don't care about you?
